Gillette Street, Hull in 2002 (looking North).  Properties were demolished in the slum clearance of the 50s/60s to make way for industrial units.

     At the census of 1891 William and Jane Cressey were found to be residing at 36 Gillette Street, Hull, Yorkshire.   With them was their Daughter Elizabeth Ann, her husband and new daughter.

    In 1891 Albert Edgar c.1850 wife Kate c.1859 and their family were residing at 19 Gillette Street, Hull, East Yorkshire.   His occupation was described as a "Skipper".  There were now eight children in the family.

 

At the census of 1901 the extended family of Philip Pickering complete with numerous grandchildren are residing together in Hull Yorkshire.  Those present at 52 Somertset Terrace, Gillett Street, Hessle Road were:

 

Philip Pickering 47, Mary Ann Pickering 44, Mary E Marsden (Mary Ann's Mother) 63, son Philip Pickering 15,daughter Ada E Pickering 12, daughter Florence Pickering 9, Son George Hy Pickering 6, daughter Clarie Pickering 4, also present are their daughter Eliza Donohue 23, and her 3 children.
