     ARLEUX-EN-GOHELLE (PAS-DE-CALAIS)

     7 miles NE. of Arras, 2 miles NE of Bailleul-sire-Berthoult Sta., ¾ mile SW. of village on road to Hénin-Liétard.


     Begun April 1917, used until Nov. 1917, considerably enlarged after Armistice from battlefields around Arras.

    Records 2,693 U.K., 282 Can., 1 S.A.  burials, and 44 special memorials.

 The cemetery contains the following, unusual, memorial:

 It reads:

The land on which this
cemetery stands is the free
gift of Madame Wartelle to
the memory of her husband
Captaine au 72eme Regiment
d'Infanterie who fell on
the field of honour on the
27th August 1914 to serve
as perpetual resting
place of those heroes of
the Allied Armies who
fell in the war of 1914-1918
and are honoured here
