     David Wing b.c.1822, baptised  Holy Trinity, Hull, Yorkshire.  Son of John Wing (1777-1826)/Jane?(1778-1861)

David Wing (1822-1883) married Clarissa Ann Smithson (1823-1878) in 1841 at St James, Sutton, Yorkshire England.   The marriage registration, HULL HO/1/245, Sculcoates, Hull, England. 

Along with brothers George, and William, they emigrated to Australia in 1842.   Their eldest daughter Jane Elizabeth being born there.   However David and Clarissa with newly born daughter Jane Elizabeth returned to the United Kingdom in 1843/4.   This union produced probably the following Eleven children between 1842 - 1867.

In 1851 at the Hull Census this family were residing at 11 Marlborough Terrace Hull.  David was declared to be a journeyman.

In April 1881 the family consisting of father and the children (minus daughter Jane Elizabeth), were residing at 73 Spring Street, Hull, East Yorkshire.  David Wing occupation was listed as that of a Municipal Officer.    He is shown now as a widower. Clarissa Ann Wing having died in 1878 aged 53.

   Emma S. Wing married Henry Meads Gillett (born Hull.c.1855) on the 9th December 1885 at  Sculcoates Register Office, Hull, Yorkshire (Ref Sculcoates 9d 384).   Registration HULL SR/032/179.

However Henry had previously married Kate Harrison in 1879 at Sculcoates Register Office, Hull, Yorkshire.   Registration HULL SR/25/105.  There was one child to this union of Henry and Kate -  daughter Gertrude born c.1880 at the District of Hessle registration HES/12/320. 

At the census of 1881 this family were residing at  5 West Parade, Hull, Yorkshire, England

At the census of 1891 Gertrude is found age 10 as a boarder at No 8 Sherridan Villas St Leonards, Hasting, Sussex residing with Elenor Gartley

Henry was declared to be a Seed and Grass Merchant.   The union between Emma and Henry produced at the least the following  two children between 1885-1890.

First Child.   Son Arthur H. Gillett born Hull 1885.

Second Child.   Son. Sydney B. Gillett born Hill 1890.

At the census of 1891 this family were residing at 42 Spring Street Hull.

Third Child. Katie Gillett b.c.1893 at Hessle 

At the census of 1901 this family were residing at Davenport Avenue Hessle, Yorkshire.  Gertrude Gillett was now present here.

Ninth Child.   Son Edward Wing (1861 - 1894?)    (Ref Sculcoates 9d 132) born Hull 1861, Birth registered in the district of Myton, Hull, Yorkshire under registration MYT47/50.    His occupation was stated to be  Book Keeper. He married Alice L Smith at All Saints Sculcoates in 1885 Registration HULL HAS/24/167.     Edward died in December 1894

Tenth Child.   Daughter Ada Wing (1863 - ?), Birth registered in the district of Myton, Hull, Yorkshire under registration MYT53/246.

Eleventh Child.   Daughter Edith Wing (1867- ?) Birth registered in the district of Myton, Hull, Yorkshire under registration MYT66/310.

Edith was residing with her sister Emma Gillett and family at 42 Spring St, Hull at the Holy Trinity census of 1891.   She was unmarried at this time.  However she married in March 1894.  (Ref Hull 9d 413)
