was born on the 9th March 1939, at the Municipal Materinity Home, Hedon
Road, Hull, Yorkshire to Arthur
Edward Cressey and Hilda May Coates.
He was registered as Edward Cressey in the Drypool District of Hull under serial
No DRY/7a/477.
Arthur's Occupation was declared as a Trawler spare hand (Deep sea Fisherman) of 9 Fern Grove,
Scarborough Street, Hull, Yorkshire, England.
In August 1939 Grace and Herbert
Verity took responsibility for Edward, a young baby, the son of Arthur Cressey
and his
wife Hilda May Cressey (Coates). Hilda May having sadly
died aged 26 on 19th August 1939, she is buried in a family plot at Western
Cemetry, Hull. Grace Verrity
(Cressey) was the paternal Aunt of Edward.
Early life was spent at
Hessle, residing at 31 Northolme
Road, Hessle, East Yorkshire.
About 1950 Grace and Herbert
left Hessle, East Yorkshire, to reside in the South of England. Young Edward moved to the
south of England with Grace and Herbert and stayed with them until 1957.

Edward emigrated
to New Zealand when he was 18 years old.

Edward aged 25 married Frances Ellen Courtney at the Kelburn Presbyterian Church, Raroa Road, Kelburn, Wellington, New Zealand on 28th November 1964.
Kelburn is a small suburb situated about 1 km from the heart of Wellington, the
capital city of New Zealand. Geographically, Kelburn is the smallest parish in
New Zealand.
