     Thomas Snowdon b.c.1829 at Ryton, North Yorkshire Thomas  was christened on 6 Nov 1831 in Ryton North Riding of Yorkshire, England.  He married Hannah Nelson who was christened on 7 May 1826 in Langton By Malton, North Riding, Yorkshire, England.  They married at Habton, North Yorkshire.

This couple produced at least the following nine children between 1870 - 1888.  Thomas was a farm labourer.

First Child.   Daughter Mary Snowdon was christened on 1 Dec 1856 in Great Habton North Riding, Yorkshire, England.

Second Child.   Son William Snowdon was christened on 2 Jul 1858 in Ryton North Riding, Yorkshire, England.

William in 1881 is residing with his wife Maria, his daughter, step daughter and Mother in law.  William is declared to be an ag lab.  Wife Maria is a Dairy Maid.

Third Child.   Daughter Elizabeth Snowdon was christened on 10 Aug 1860 in Ryton, North Riding, Yorkshire, England. She died on 14 Jun 1867 in Great Habton, North Riding, Yorkshire, England.

Fourth Child.  Son George Snowdon was christened on 27 Apr 1862 in Great Habton, North Riding, Yorkshire, England.

In 1881 George is working for George Leefe

Fifth Child.    Son John Nelson Snowdon was born on 6 Mar 1866 in Ryton, North Riding, Yorkshire, England.. He was christened on 31 Mar 1872 in Kirby-misperton, North Riding, Yorkshire.

Sixth Child.  Daughter Jane Elizabeth Snowdon was christened on 29 Sep 1872 in Ryton North Riding Yorkshire, England.

Seventh Child.   Son Robert Snowdon was christened on 31 Mar 1872 in Ryton, North Riding, Yorkshire, England.

Eighth Child.   Daughter Alice Snowdon was christened on 28 Mar 1875 in Ryton, North Riding, Yorkshire, England.

Ninth Child.   Daughter Eliza Snowdon was christened on 9 Sep 1877 in Ryton North Riding Yorkshire, England.

The villages of Little Habton and Greater Habton can be found just north of the River Rye and not far off the main road from Malton to Pickering.  The village of Ryton is located just to the north of Malton.

A photographic ramble through time

     At the census of 1881 the family were found to be residing at Ryton, Yorkshire, less John Nelson Snowdon age 15, who  was found to be residing at Barton le Street, his occupation that of farm Servant Indoor, employed by,  Leonard Rawling, farmer of, Glebe farm.

At the census of 1901 Thomas now 71 and Hannah 66 are residing at Sledgate,Rillington, Yorkshire.  Also present was grandson Fred aged five.
