 Probability that Robert George Osborne b.c. 1811 at Brighton, married Susannah Curtis (b.c.1820 at Paddington, London) on  6th June 1839, at All Souls, St Marylebone, Middlesex, London,  England.

This family were residing at 2a Welbeck St, Marylebone, Middlesex at the census of 1851.  Those present with Robert and Susanna were: Daughter Susannah Osborne aged 13, Daughter Rebecca Osborne aged 11, Son Robert G Osborne aged 9 and Ann Curtis aged 55, mother of Susanna Curtis.

     Robert George Osborne  Christened 20th March 1842 at All Souls, St. Marylebone, London, Middlesex, England.  

Robert G became a soldier serving in many countries of the world during the Victorian era.  His trade or profession was that of Hospital Sergeant, 91st Highlanders.

     On the 24th September 1866, at Bombay, India, he married Catherine Organ, a widow, who was born in Bombay India 1848 (d.1884). Witnesses on the marriage document are declared to be:- Witnesses present: Fred Harlington Colour Sergeant,  91st Highlanders, G.F.Kenny Barrack Sergeant.    The minister conducting the service was Minister Joseph Cras(?) R.C.Chaplain.

Third Child.   Daughter Alice Maude Osborne born Dover, Kent England in June 1870. 

Fourth Child.   Son Alfred George Osborne born Aldershot, Hampshire, England in September 1871.  

Fifth Child.   Daughter Mabel Osborne born Newry No 1, Armagh, Ireland 11th September 1874.

Seventh Child.   Daughter Grace Osborne born 18th October 1877  Newry, Armagh, Ireland.    Grace married David William Cressey (1874-1936)  at Sculcoates (ref 9d343) in Dec 1898.    Grace died at Hull, East Yorkshire on the 8th May 1936 and is buried at the Western Cemetery, Hull.

Eighth Child.   Son Henry A Osborne born September 1879  Aldershot, Hampshire, England.

Ninth  Child.    Son   Leonard Osborne born 1884 at Netley, Hampshire, England.

Tenth Child.    Daughter Sophia  born December 1885 at Hitcham, Suffolk, England.

The mother of  Sophia is probably Annie Carter whom Robert married in 1887 after the death of Catherine in 1884.

     During the period 1865-68 this family were resident with the military in Bombay India. Under the auspices of the Presidency of Bombay.

During the period 1869- 1872 the family were resident with the military at Dover and Aldershot.

In 1873 the family were resident at Newry in Ireland serving with the British Forces, returning to Aldershot in England during 1880.

In 1881 this family is recorded as residing at the "Royal Victoria Hospital" Netley & Adj Buildings, Census Place: Hound, Hampshire, England.

     Robert George Osborne is listed as a Mess Steward (Soldier).

Catherine Osborne died in June 1884 aged 36.

It would appear that in December 1887 Robert George Osborne now a widower aged 45 married for a second time.  In December 1887 he married Annie Carter b.c.1847 at Ballingdon, Essex, England.

At the census of 1891 this family is recorded as residing at 44 Portobello Road, Kensington, London.  

The mother of Sophia is probably Annie Carter whom Robert married in 1887 after the death of Catherine in 1884.
