Betsy Edgar (Pickering) born 29th October 1880.
Her birth was registered in the Myton District of Hull serial no MYT/123/356.
The daughter of
Philip
(1855) and Mary Pickering (1858), a seafarer who resided with his family at
12
Edwins Place, Porter St, Hull Yorkshire. Philip Pickering's occupation is given as a
Steamship Stoker. Son Walter is stated to be a Steamship Steward.

At the Census of 1901 the family is residing at 5
Lizzies Terrace, Hessle Road, Hull with their first born child Olive.

They had 9-10 children - not quite sure
but have nine named. The family then were residing at 2 Edith Grove Brighton
Street, Hull, Yorkshire, until the death of Fred on 1st December
1934.
She spent her life after the death of
Fred living at 12 Subway Street,
Hessle Road, Hull, remaining there
throughout the WWII war years. Many of her family and
grandchildren stayed with her during this period. They all
watched as Hull burned in 1941.
After the war
Betsy Edgar moved with her youngest
daughter
Florence (Cressey) to 15 Hampshire
Street, Gypsyville, Hull.

Grandson Trevor can just be seen to the right.
In 1949 when
Florence moved to Hessle, East Yorkshire, Betsy Edgar stayed in Gypsyville to live with
Ada one of her other
daughters at 5 Westbourne Terrace, Gloucester
Street, Hull. She died 8th March 1961 and is buried with her husband at
the Western Cemetery Hull.
