David William Cressey, a fisherman. They
had two
boys, David and Trevor. During
this period the family resided at Edith Grove, Brighton
Street, Hull. When WWII was declared
Dave as she called him
joined the RNVR (Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve) and served as an
naval officer with distinction during the war years, being
awarded the DSM for services above and beyond. He was 22 years
old.
Floss
and the boys resided with Floss's mother (Betsey Edgar) at 12 Subway
Street, Hull from 1939 through most of the war years. However on
many occasions Floss moved around the country with Husband and Family.
Whichever port Bill was sailing out of, be it Lowestoft, Belfast, Newcastle or
where ever; she would be there to support him.
After
the war years the family resided at 15 Hampshire Street, Hull.
Marilyn was born in 1946. In 1948, they moved
to Northolme Road, Hessle. When the family had grown and fled the nest,
Floss and Bill moved to Goole to be
closer to Marilyn, and their grand children, however, in 1984, Dave who had been ill for
some time died, Floss returned to live in Hessle and for the next fifteen years
lived a life of moderate independence.
On the 30th March 2000, Florence became ill and was admitted to the Hull Royal
Infirmary where she died on the morning of the eleventh of April 2000.
The funeral was attended by family and friends on Friday 14th April
2000. Cremation took place at the Haltemprice Crematorium, Willerby,
East Yorks.
