ESTHER (f) Perhaps either "star" (Persian) or a Hebrew form of ISHTAR, a Persian goddess. The Book of Esther in the Old Testament tells of Queen Esther, the Jewish wife of the king of Persia, who saves many Jews from persecution.

Esther was the fourth child of Grace Osbourne and William Cressey.   born in the Hessle district of Hessle, Hull Yorkshire, under reference HES/67/278 in 1907. She married Ike Cotton in 1928 and this union produced the following three daughters. 

CRESSEY Esther COTTON Isaac St Mary and St Peter Hull HMP/5/101

First Child.   Daughter.   Mavis I. Cotton, born in the Hessle district of Hull, Yorkshire, reference HES/127/222 in 1929.

Mavis married Arthur Cook at St Nicolas, Hull in 1950.

Second Child.   Daughter.    Brenda Cotton

It is probable that Brenda married  James Kelly at St Nicholas, Hull in 1951.

It is probable that Mary married Gordon Stephenson at St Nicholas, Hull in 1958.

 Ike and Esther spent most of their married life residing at St Nicholas Avenue, Hessle High Road, Hull.
