     Annie Elizabeth Carter  Born in 1896.   Birth registered in the Hessle district of Hull under reference HES/34/485 in 1896 to John and Elizabeth Carter, she is shown with her parents in 1901, residing at  Glasgow Street  Hull, Yorkshire.  

Father John is now declared to be working as a platelayer on the railways.

     It is interesting to note that Marr Elizabeth's brother Robert Bean b.c. 1874 is now residing with them, having left the family home of Monument Cottage, Sledmere.   Aged 24, 'Living on own means'?  10 years earlier he had been a servant at The Grange, Sledmere, Yorkshire.

      As a young girl little is known.    She married Robert Harry Roantree at Hull in 1917.

This union produced at least three children; 

First Child.  Son (Harry) Harold R. Roantree, born c.1920, birth registered at Southcoates, Hull, Yorkshire, reference SOC/25/408.  Harry's first wife was named Nancy, but the marriage failed.  Doris was the second wife of Harry.  This couple had no family.

  Second Child.   Daughter Marjorie Roantree.  Born Hull Hessle C.1922 It is thought that Marjorie married Norman.

   Third Child.   Son Frederick Roantree. Born Hull Myton C.1925. Died Bridlington Yorkshire 11th October 2004.  He married Kathleen and this union had three children - Gillian, Richard and Jane

     Early life was spent in the Hull area .  The family mythology goes, that the Roantrees' had a colourful history spending their years, especially between the first and second world wars, selling contraband products.   Playing life's little games close to the edge.

      They lived during this period at Howden,Yorkshire.   Harry being the manager of the local Co-op   It is not known when Harry Roantree died but it appears to be early 1960s when Anne returned to Hull to live in Maud's old house 42 Chiltern Street, Hull.  Annie lived into her nineties.
