During his career as a boilermaker Lincoln Billany held the responsible position of District secretary of the Hull Branch of the Boilermakers Society.    He was a staunch supporter of the Trades and Labour Council (The Radical Party) following in the footsteps of his father, Neiles Boynton Billany.   In 1899 Lincoln resigned from this post, in order that he could pursue greater political adventures.

Lincoln had proved to be a very difficult person, selfish, moody, and Betsy his wife for many years put up with his infidelities, however, when the children had fled the nest, Betsy divorced him.   Betsy had little contact with her family from that time on.

Lincoln Billany, died in 1930 at Nottingham, aged 66.
