Fred Billany was born to Florence
Martha Billany, and registered in
in 1907. The father of this child
is named as Arthur
Billany a distant
relative. Son of Jacob and Annie
Billany born Preston Yorkshire c.
1885.
The
subject matter within the Carter-
Billany
families has always been taboo!!! and
Fred's Father was never disclosed to the
close family.
Research had thrown up numerous
conspiracy theories. The
most appropriate theory that fits the
scenario was researched from data on
Fred Billany's birth certificate.

The birth certificate of Fred Billany states that he was born at 40,
Chiltern Street, Hull Yorkshire, on 21st October 1907.
The birth declared by the mother Florence Martha Billany, formerly
Bell. There is no evidence that Martha had previously been
married (declared
a spinster on her marriage certificate dated 1912) and until 1991 had been known as Bellamy/ Billamy, this
family name is shown in the census of both 1881 and 1891.
Martha declares the father to be Arthur Billany a paintworks
labourer and the birth was registered thus in
the Hessle district of Hull under
reference HES/67/116 on 14th November
1907.
From young boy to young adult Fred
remained living with his family; Neiles,
his mother Martha, Step-Father and younger
brother John
Richard at 40 Chiltern Street,
Hull, England.
Fred began a
career as a Journalist in 1925, with the Hull
Daily Mail. He remained in
this employment until the death of
Neiles, in 1935.
Because of his sexuality it is
considered that Neiles protected him
greatly from the gossip and innuendo of
the time. But, after the
death of Neiles, Fred moved to
the bright lights of London, to seek
his fortune and probably, to hide his sexuality.
He joined the Thompson Newsgroup where
he remained for the rest of his working life.
He never married nor had children.
Fred lived above a Bistro called
the, "Spinning Wheel",
situated on
Hampstead High Street, West London. A
residence that he truly loved.
Proud of his terrace garden, where he
could sit and write his column for the
newspaper. Fred
Billany had a life
long friendship with actor William Ingram
(Bill).
His love of travel took him to most
parts of the world and although he
remained resident in London he never
lost touch with his mother Martha.
Both Martha and Richard took their
annual holidays with Fred.
Fred adored Judith, Martha's first
grandchild who spent many happy hours in
London on annual visits. In later life Fred
spent much time with Judith and
Trevor
and their two Children, at their home in
Potters Bar, Hertfordshire, England.
Fred finished his working life as a film
critic for the Evening News.
He retired in 1972 and treat himself to
a world cruise. Five years
later he succumbed to illness and passed
away. He was cremated at a
London Crematorium.
