Potted History- Beginnings

This further branch of the Billany family is traced, originating in the Holderness region of East Yorkshire, England.  We have yet to make a confirmed connection to the cave-kids Clan2000 Billany Family History, albeit the suspicion of a genetic connection is indeed strong.

"The law of probability now comes into play and maybe the truth will never be known"

Aged twenty-one, or thereabouts Arthur Billany, meets probably unknown to him at the time, his distant cousin Florence Martha Billany.  A relationship took place and Martha duly gave birth to a son (Fred Billany 1907).  It has proven quite difficult to unravel this potion of the early life of Martha.   Research has thrown up numerous family conspiracy theories.   However, the most appropriate theory that fits the scenario was researched from data on Fred Billany's birth certificate.

The birth certificate of Fred Billany states that he was born at 40, Chiltern Street, Hull Yorkshire, on 21st October 1907.   The birth declared by the mother Florence Martha Billany, formerly Bell.  There is no evidence that Martha had previously been married (declared a spinster on marriage certificate below dated 1912) and until 1891 had been known as Bellamy/ Billamy, this family name is shown in the census of both 1881 and 1891.  Martha declares the father to be Arthur Billany a paintworks labourer and the birth was registered thus in the Hessle district of Hull under reference HES/67/116 on 14th November 1907.

Florence Martha married the boy next door (Richard Carter) 15th June 1912.

Marriage Certificate Richard carter - Martha Billany

It is most probable that Arthur Billany married Barbara E Smith at Hull in 1913.

We have yet to make a confirmed connection to the cave-kids Clan2000 Billany Family History and the Holderness Billany Family, albeit the suspicion of a genetic connection via Fred Billany and his birth certificate data - is indeed strong.
