Introduction - Potted History- Beginnings

The Beckett family is traced from the late 17th, early eighteenth century, originating from Norfolk, England.

 

     Maria Beckett (1864-1940) Norfolk the fifth child of Charles Mollett Beckett (1831-1890)  and Rosamund Cullington (1836-1873).    

   At the census of 1881, Maria was found to be at 90 Cumberland St, Cumberland St, Hull, Yorkshire c.1900 Hull Yorkshire working as a domestic servant for Mary Ann Ashwell owner of a Grocer and Drapers Shop at 90 Cumberland St, Hull, Yorkshire.   
In 1901 Maria is shown as a housekeeper residing at       Sculcoates, Hull, Yorkshire.

However it would probably appear that Maria married William James about c. June 1883 at Caister, Lincolnshire.

This union appear to have had one child.

Humber Bridge, Hull, Yorkshire

Charles Arthur Beckett James b.c.1884.   Charles married Olive Hartley (1889-1952) at Hull.   This union produced at least the following four children between 1914 -1919.

First Child.  Son.   Arthur Beckett James c.1914 at Hull Yorkshire.

Second Child.   Daughter.   Olive Beckett James (1915-1995) married Charles Alfred Lyon (1914-1973 at Hull, Yorkshire.  Olive and Charles had the following two children;

Adrienne Wendy Lyon b.c.1943 at Hull, Yorkshire.   

Christine Linda Lyon b.c.1945 at Hull Yorkshire

   Third Child.   Daughter.   Mary Beckett James (1919-2000) married Francis J Wilby at Hull Yorkshire.

   Fourth Child.   Son.   Charles Beckett James(1919-1941)
