Introduction - Potted History- Beginnings

The Beckett family is traced from the late 17th, early eighteenth century, originating from Norfolk, England.

Joseph (Jasper) Henry Beckett born 24th April 1863, (Bapt 17th June 1863) Yarmouth, Norfolk, England the first child of Jasper Draper Beckett  and Louisa Crosswell.   He married Lydia Goodings daughter of Abraham Goodings (b.c.1866) at  St. Nicholas, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England on 30th June 1890.

 At the census of 1891 this couple were found to be residing at 2 Melrose Terrace, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk. (Source RG12)  Joseph (Jasper) was declared to be a wine merchants assistant.

 At the census of 1891 this couple are now found at Plumstead, London.  Jasper is now a General Labourer.   This union produced at least the following child.

First Child.  Daughter Gertrude Beckett born 21st June 1891(Bapt 2nd August 1891) Gt Yarmouth, Norfolk.
