Introduction - Potted History- Beginnings

William Bean born 13th May 1821 Helperthorpe, York.  First child of Thomas Bean and Elizabeth Sandeman.     He married Ann b. c. 1821.  They had at least three children. 

First Child.  Son.   Henry Bean b.c. 1857.   

     At the UK census of 1881 Henry c.1857 was found at the following residence, Manor House, Barton Le Street, York, England.   He was employed by Hebden Borton.  His occupation was that of  Foreman (Bailiff)

     At he UK census of 1891 Henry  was employed as an agricultural Labourer residing at, High Street Cottage, Helperthorpe, North Yorkshire, with his wife Mary Ann b.c. 1862.  This union had at least the following three children.

Son William Bean b.c. 1883  Helplerthorpe Yorkshire. 

Son George Bean b.c. 1884 Helplerthorpe Yorkshire. 

Daughter Selina Ellen Bean b.c. 1890 Barton Le Street, York, England

Second Child.  Son.   Bridgman Bean b.c. 1858 at Knarsborough York.  

Third Child.   Son Giles Bean b.c. 1851 at Knarsborough York. 

At the census of 1861 both sons are residing with their mother at East Heslerton, York, England.  Bridgeman is declared to be an simple minded, mother Ann is a Schoolmistress, a widow.

In 1871 Giles is shown to be an clerical assistant aged 20 working in Leeds, Yorkshire, he is unmarried.

Giles dies in 1875 at Leeds, Yorkshire Volume 9b 370

At the census of 1881 Ann Bean b.c. 1821 was found to be residing at: The Village East Heslerton, York, England.   Now a widow, residing with her was her son, Bridgman Bean b.c. 1858 at Knaresborough York.   He was unmarried.   Ann's occupation was given as a Schoolmistress.  Bridgman was merely listed as a schoolmistress son.

At the census of 1891 Bridgeman Bean was residing as a lodger with the Newlove family at East Heslerton Village, York, England..  He was unmarried.

At the 1901 census Bridgemean Bean aged 52 unmarried, was found residing at  the farm of Johnathan Hunter, at Osgodby nr Scarborough.  Declared a Agri Lab(Feeble minded).
