     Thomas Bean born 21st December 1828 Helperthorpe, York.  The fifth child of Thomas and Elizabeth.   

At the census of 1841 Thomas was working as an Agricultural Labourer aged 13.

Thomas Bean married Mary Marks (1830-1897) born at Barton Le Street, York, England at Malton in 1854.    This union produced possibly five children.  Thomas died 13 March 1890.

 

     First Child.   Daughter Hannah Bean b. c. 1859-1894, she married John Cooper.  At the UK Census of 1881 this couple were residing at Wold Newton, York, England.  John was declared to be a Boot & Shoe Maker.   (Source: FHL Film 1342158 PRO Ref RG11 Piece 4800 Folio 106 Page 12)



Second Child.   Mary Jane Bean born c. 1862 Helperthorpe, York, England   

Third Child.   Daughter Sarah Ann Bean born c. 1867 Helperthorpe, York, England

At the UK census of 1871 they are found to be residing at Main Street, Driffield, Yorkshire.   Thomas was declared to be an Farm Labourer.

At the UK census of 1881 they are found to be residing at Main Street, Helperthorpe, Yorkshire.   Thomas was declared to be an Agricultural Labourer.

Fourth Child.   Son Tom Bean born c. 1871 Helperthorpe, York, England.   At the 1891 census Tom was shown to be working as a servant at the Weaverthorpe farm of Mr Jackson.

     Fifth  Child.    William Bean b.c. 1879 at Helperthorpe, York, England.  Volume: 9d Page:332  However in 1891 Mary Bean is shown as being a widow residing at Weaverthorpe.   With her at this time is William but he is declared a Grandson aged 12.  The mystery remains for the moment for it is not clear who this child belongs to, no data is entered.
