    Mary Hannah Bean, born 14th November 1854, christened 20th December 1854 in Spittle St. Old Malton, North Yorkshire.  The first child of George Bean and Ann Kitson.   

At the census of 1861 Mary Hannah was living with her parents at Cave Lane, Newbegin, Malton Yorkshire.

Mary Hannah Bean had the following three children between 1873-1878.

First Child.   Ann Elizabeth Bean, b.c.1873 christened 7th September 1873 New Malton, North Yorkshire.

Second Child.   Thomas Bean, b.c. 1876 christened 5th November 1876 in New Malton, North Yorkshire.   In 1901 Thomas is living under the name of Thomas Postell, in Middlesbrough, Occupation is given as: Brickyard Labourer.

Third Child.   William Bean, born 6th September 1878 in Union Workhouse, Malton, North Yorkshire.   Christened 3rd October 1878. 

   At the census of 1881 Mary and her family are residing with her parents George Bean and Ann Kitson at 'GreenGate', New Malton, North Yorkshire.

At this stage there is no trace of Mary Hannah having been married and the father of her first 3 children remains unknown.

On 10th April 1881 Mary was married to William Postill in St Leonard, Malton, North Yorkshire.  William was the son of William Hoggart and Jane Postill born 2nd April 1848, Malton, North Yorkshire.   Witnesses to this marriage were William Stamper and George Taylor.   

    William Postill at the time of marriage to Mary Hannah was a widower.   His first wife was Emma Miller, daughter of John Miller.  William was listed as a 'Railway Plate Layer'.  In 1881, William, a widower, was living with his father-in-law John Miller at "Greengate" New Malton, together with his children by first wife Emma Miller.

 Son George Miller b.c. 1871 Malton, North Yorkshire.  He took the name Postill in later life.

Mary Hannah Bean and William Postill had the following child.

Fourth Child.  Alice Postill, born 5th August 1881 in Parliament St., Norton, Malton, North Yorkshire.    Alice died 20th May 1922 in Wynyard Station, Durham.

In 1891, Mary Hannah and her husband William Postill and their family  were residing at 8 Derwent Street, Middlesbrough.  With them at this time was Mary Hanann's father George along with his youngest son John Bean.
