SALTON was a parish in  Rydale, 6 miles S. of Kirkbymoorside. "BRAWBY was in the parish of Salton, 1¾ miles SE. of Salton, 5 miles SSE Kirkbymoorside as with Settrington/Scagglethorpe they are quiet villages at the foot of the Wolds close  to Norton/Malton in North Yorkshire.     

     George Bean b.c.1823,christened 18th May 1823, Malton, North Yorkshire. The sixth child of   Robert Bean and Elizabeth Sherwood.   

 

  He married Carolina Louisa Stephenson b.c. 1823, Halifax, Yorkshire, about 1850 at Malton.  This couple probably had Eleven children between 1851-1869.

First Child.  Daughter Louisa Bean b.c. 1849 at Brawdby, Norton, Malton, Yorkshire.  Louisa married James Gill marriage registered at Hemsley in 1870.  In 1881 this family were residing in Ivy Street, Huddesfield Yorkshire with their 10 year old Son Edward.

Second Child.   Son Robert Bean, b.c. 1851, christened 13th February 1851 in Malton, North Yorkshire.  Robert and brother George emigrated to Canada, in 1875.   On 22nd November 1876 he married Sarah Ann Hesselwood, in Clinton, Ontario.    Sarah was born 7th July 1852 in Hullet Township.   

Third Child    Son William Bean b.c. 1851 at Malton Yorkshire.  In 1861 William is living at home with his parents.  In 1871 William is employed as a Groom to MR Charles Strucklam, Barrister at Hindenley Hall.  In 1881 William was still employed as a Groom but residing at 18 Parkside, Westminster.

Fourth Child.   Son George Alfred Bean, b.c. 1854, christened at Malton, North Yorkshire, 13th February 1854. George and brother Robert  emigrated to Canada, in 1875.

Fifth Child.   Daughter Eliza Bean, born in Normanby, Malton c.1857.  In 1871 aged just 14 she was employed by John Horton of Brickyard House in the hamlet of Amotherby, Newsham, Yorkshire, as a domestic servant.

Sixth Child.    Daughter Jane Bean born in Normanby, Malton 1859.  In 1861 she is shown residing with her parents. (Still searching)

Seventh Child.    Daughter Anne Bean b.c. 1860 at Normanby, Malton, Yorkshire.   In 1861 she is shown residing with her parents.  It is understood that Annie Married and had two children for at the census of 1891 they are shown residing with Annie's parents.  Anne Bean now calling herself Annie Petch.

Eighth Child.    Son Frederick Bean born in Normanby, Malton  Yorkshire c.1863.  In 1871 he is shown as living with parents.  At the census of 1881 he is shown as being a groom for the local vicar (William Abbey) at  the vicarage Salton.  By the census of 1901 he was residing at the "Coachmans Cottage" Hutton Cranswick, Yorkshire, he was declared to be a "Stud Groom".  Those present were his wife Mary Ann b.c.1859 at Burythorpe, and Children, Frederick Bean age 12 Harry Bean age 10 Bertie Bean age 8 and Alice Jennings servant age 20.

Ninth Child.  Son David Bean born in the parish of Salton Yorkshire c.1866.   In 1871 he is shown as living with parents.  At the census of 1881 he is shown as a farm labourer working for Robert Staveley (Farmer) at Newton Wold Farm Winteringham.  At the census of 1891 he is resident with his parents shown as Farmers Son.  In 1893 he married Annie Jane Croft, they had at least one son George b.c.1894.   At the census of 1901 this family is shown residing with David's parents at Salton Grange.

Tenth Child.   Daughter Rose Hannah Bean born in the parish of Salton Yorkshire c.1867. She died aged 4 years the death registered at Helmsley, Yorkshire - Volume:9d page 361

Eleventh Child.   Daughter Selina Bean, born 1869 in Malton, North Yorkshire.  Selina lived with her parents at Malton Grange until Oct 1891 when she married William C Clark at Helmsley North Yorkshire.  

At the census of 1901 Selina is living with her Husband  William C Clark and son Albert b.c.1893 at Scarborough, Yorkshire.  Residing at 3 Norton Street, West Hartlepool co Durham.
