       Barbara Ann Bean b.c. 1872  at Sledmere, North Yorkshire.  The sixth child of Robert Bean and Ann Clark

She married Frederick Coates b.c.1863 at Eddlethorpe Westow, Yorkshire. Frederick was the son of John and Hannah Coates who resided at, Pry Cottages, Sledmere, North Yorkshire.  John was a cottage farmer, Frederick was listed as a tailor.  

       This union produced at least the following two children.  At the census of 1901 this family were residing at Mill Cottages Langtoft, Yorkshire.

First Child.   Son Edward born 25th January 1898 at Sledmere, North Yorkshire.     Edward married (1) ?Bell, this union produced the following child.  

  Daughter Renee Coates.   She married Arthur Hughes and this couple had at least the following three children. 

1.   Daughter Diana Hughes.

2.   Daughter Barbara Hughes - She married David Winfield - this couple had two children.

3.   Daughter Jennifer Hughes - she married Nicholas Dolman.

   Edward married (2) Jessie Moorhouse b.c.1908, Sheffield Yorkshire, at Scarborough, North Yorkshire on 7th July 1937.   Edward was employed by Scarborough Borough Council at 'Valley Gardens' Scarborough as a gardener.  This union produced at least the following two children.

Son.   John Michael Coates.   He married Beryl Anne Hudson they produced two children.

Son Kevin Coates - married Louisa Abbot.   

Daughter Shirley Betty Coates.  She married Charles Peter Davies born 28th April 1930 at Brixton, London.   This union produced at least the following three children.  Charles Peter Davis died 11th April 2000 at Exeter, Devon.

Son George James Samuel Davies married Elaine Thomas, this couple had the following child.  Daniel Peter Davies.

  Daughter Hannah Ruth Caroline Davies.

Daughter Heather Margaret Emma Davies.

Edward died at Scarborough, North Yorkshire 8th January 1981.   Jessie died at Scarborough, North Yorkshire 14th May 1985.

Second Child.   Daughter Gladys Coates.  She married Billy Jackson.   This union produced at least the following children.

1.   Daughter Pam Jackson married Dennis this couple having the following child.   Daughter Emma.   Emma married Dr K Jan Roodenberg and together they had daughter Amy Roodenberg.

   2.   Daughter Barbara Ann Jackson married Walter Burgess, two children resulted from this union.  Son Paul Burgess and Daughter Anna Burgess.  Anna married Paul and this couple have two children Ben and Jackson.

  3.   Daughter Shirley Jackson married Peter, they had two daughters, Sherrie.   (Sherrie married David Turner, this union produced Rachel Turner and Ryan Turner)  and Nichola.  Nichola married Ian Curtis this couple had the following three children.   Carley Curtis, Leonie Curtis and Joe Curtis.
