 James Bryce b.c. June 1835 at St. Ninian, Stirling,.Scotland, James married Mary Bramley b.c. 1837 at Coxhoe, Durham in Sep 1859.   This union probably produced Nine children between 1859-1880.

Mary was the youngest daughter of John Bramley b.c.1797 at Newcastle, England and Margaret Bramley (nee Renwick) born Old Cornforth, Durham 22 Nov 1796. 

They are shown at the Durham Census of 1851 residing with their family at Office Row, Newfield, Durham.  John was described as a Joiner.

First Child.   Son James Bryce born Hartlepool, Durham 19 Dec 1862. He died on 23 Jul 1934 at Cellar Hill, Milford Haven, Pembroke, Wales.

  Second Child.   Daughter Jessie BRYCE. She was born on 21 Jul 1864 at  Frederick St, Throston, Hartlepool,. Durham, Jessie married James KELSEY (born 21 Feb 1860 son of Henry KELSEY and Sarah WITHERS) on 8th March 1881 at Durham.   Witnesses to marriage were J.B.Short and Mary Jane Coxon.

James KELSEY's occupation was stated to be a Slotting Machinist.  This union probably had the following 7 children.

1.  Son James Bryce KELSEY born Jun 1882 in West Hartlepool, Durham.   He married Edith Emily EDMONDSON in Mar 1905 at Stockton, Durham. He died Mar 1924 in Stockton, Durham.

1. Son Henry Edward DODD born Jun 1894 in Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire, Wales.   He married Annie Elisa KINGSTON at Swansea, Wales in Jun 1921.  He died on 29 Jul 1944.

   Sixth Child.   Son David Bryce born 2nd July 1873 in Southwick, Sunderland, Durham.  On 18 Sep 1904 at St Catherines, Haverfordwest,  Pembrokeshire,  Wales, he married Flora Fanny Louisa HALLETT (born Dec 1880 in Blakeney, Gloucestershire).  This union produced four children. 

     1.   Son John Hallett BRYCE born on 04 Mar 1906 in St. Peters Road, Milford Haven, Pembroke.  

2.  Son Robert BRYCE born on 27 Oct 1907 in 9 Gwili Road, Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire, Wales. He married Eileen PROWSE Sep 1931 in Plymouth. He died on 03 Apr 1982 at 84 Ross Street, Belmont, Australia.

3.   Son Frederick Frank BRYCE born on 11 Sep 1910 at 9 Gwili Road, Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire, Wales.  He died on 16 Dec 1910 at 9 Gwili Road, Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire, Wales.

4.   Daughter  Flora May BRYCE born on 19 Sep 1914 at 39 Starbuck Road, Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire, Wales.  She married John William ATTWOOD on 20 Jan 1940 at St. Catherines, Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire, Wales. Flora May Attwood (BRYCE) died Jul 1998 in Essex

Seventh Child.  Son William BRYCE.  He was born on 28 Apr 1875 in Southwick, Sunderland, Durham.  He married Gertrude Mary ROGERS in Sep 1896 at Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, Wales.  Gertrude was born on September 17 Jul 1873 at Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire, Wales.  This union probably had the following 11(Eleven) children.

1.   Son George BRYCE born 1895 at Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire, Wales.

         2.   Daughter Gertrude Ivy BRYCE born on 28 Nov 1897 at Robert Street, Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire, Wales.  She married Richard Henry MARCHANT on 10 Feb 1934 (Harry BRYCE was born on 29 Nov 1901 in Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire, Wales, Gertrude Ivy died on 19 Jul 1955 at Robert Street, Milford Haven, Pembroke, Wales

10.   Son  Stanley Gordon BRYCE born on 28 Jan 1912 at 167 Robert Street, Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire, Wales. He married Rachel Ann WILLIAMS at St. Catherines,  Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire, Wales on 22 Sep 1934.  He died on 25 May 1979 in Cardigan, Wales.

11.   Son Sidney BRYCE born Dec 1913 in 17 Brick Cottage, Pill  Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire, Wales.  He died on 21 Jan 1915.

William BRYCE died on 03rd July 1922 at 7 Brick House, Milford Haven, Pembroke, Wales. Gertrude Mary dies at the same address 09 Nov 1923.

Eighth Child.   Daughter Lily Bryce born Southwick, Sunderland, Durham, in June 1876-1898.

 Lillie(Lily) Bryce met and married  David William Cressey b.c. 1874 at St Catherines Church Haverfordwest,  Pembrokeshire, Wales on 29th December 1896.    Lilie was residing with her parents and siblings at Barrow In Furness, before moving to Haking, Pembrokeshire, Wales.

There are numerous name variations of Lillie (Lily,Lilly,Lilie) shown on the marriage and death certificates and the many census documents found.  As at 2009.

Witnesses to this marriage were Lillie's sister Rachel and Brother in Law Henry Dodd.  Lillie's father James Bryce and David Wm's father William, are both present.

The young couple set up home at Rock Cottages in the village of Hakin just south of Milford.  The marriage was not to last for tragically, Lillie died on Seventh of February 1898 at Hakin,  Pembrokeshire, Wales, aged just 21, she was buried on the 12 February 1898 at Milford Haven

The entire course of the Cressey family history genealogy would have taken an entirely different route should Lilly have survived and had children with David William, as would have the descendants of the Bramley/Brice families.

Ninth Child.   Daughter  Rachel Bryce born Sunderland, Durham 26th December 1880.  At the 1901 census Rachel was residing with her parents at Milford Haven.  However on the 23rd April 1903 she married  William Gillie Dixon ( born Dec 1876 at Tynemouth,  North Shields, Northumberland) at St Catherines. Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire, Wales,   Rachel at this time was now calling herself, Rachel Bramley Bryce.
